Fansplaining Shipping Survey

Recently the hosts of the podcast Fansplanining ran a surrey about shipping. I'm totally fascinated by the survey at its results.

There's cool Data Visualization. And an article on the top-line results form shippers who responed and one on the technical aspects of the Methodology.

Its really interesting to see what people said! What do you think about the results? Do they reflect your experiences?

Is the list of ships supposed to be 100% comprehensive? Because I listed many ships (Doctor Who being one example) that aren't in there at all.

Hmm... reading through the data clean up post it looks like the only included the first nine ships form each respondent. If that's the case they could have been a little clearer that's how things worked. All the data is publicly available so I guess someone else could go back over it a list all the ships -- it sounded like massive effort though. Ship names are are for people outside that fandom to figure out.

It seems like there might also have been a cutoff for inclusion on the data visualization - it looks like anything with less than about 50 respondents didn't get included at all. I know my first 4 or 5 ships would all have been Doctor Who, as it's my main fandom right now, so there's clearly other criteria at work here.

Hmm... that could make sense -- I wish they where a bit clearer about what they are showing us!
