Fic because of actors

Is there a general term for the sort of thing represented by "Teninch" fic, where people put together random characters played by Billie Piper and David Tennant other than Rose and the Doctor? I have been browsing Hitchhiker's Guide fic for a couple of days and have run across both Sherlock and Khan in fics which I therefore assume have Martin Freeman's Arthur Dent in mind, since they have both been played by Benedict Cumberbatch.

I don't know a word for this but it's such a clear (and old) phenomenon that it feels like there has to be one!

I've called it Actor Reuse, and it's a subcategory of crossover.

I've been partial to it regarding Steve Rogers|Captain America and Johnny Storm|Torch, but I'm amused by it variously.

At some point a while back, someone invented the term 'crossroles' and created a dw community crossroles, but as you can see, nobody's used the community in the last seven years, so...

I call them actor crossovers in my head but that's just me.

It's called Same-Actor Crossover so yeah you were on the right track :) (Rather interesting to read the variations too).
