I love fandom specific holiday exchanges but I over-extended myself a bit this year and I'm sorta stressed about it. I think I can get everything done but the fics won't be as long as I would otherwise have liked.

I can understand that right now. I've got 3 exchanges with very close due dates! Plus I want to do some writing for fandom trees, but luckily I've got more time for that. Next year I'll be pickier.

It's not that I sign up to any exchanges around this time of the year, it's that I have a tradition going on a good ten years now of writing a Carol-themed Christmas fic every single year!

And this year... I completely misjudged how long this fic would be by truly comical proportions, haha. :') Meaning that after a year of mostly not writing much, and a few months of drabbles only, I might just end up with my longest Christmas fic yet, and with two weeks to go I'm barely halfway...

I wasn't going to do anything fannish in particular, besides the usual Yuletide tagmodding (and sorting Yahoo Groups metadata which is fandom-adjacent at the least)… but there was a Yuletide pinch hit that just called to me, lol. So I've written a fic. XD

I've just learned about the existence of exchanges this year, so I'm doing Yuletide and in a fit of enthusiasm I took a pinch hit for Soulmates even though I'm not actually signed up to the exchange.

I definitely tell myself I am not going to overcommit every year but end up getting tempted and signing up for things. Thankfully I don't have issues meeting the deadlines (which is part of the reason I keep signing up so I have a reason to write), but hopefully 2024 will be the year that I slow down a little so I can work on outside projects. :)

My end of year is always swamped. It includes preparing for [community profile] snowflake_challenge and my year-end sale of poetry (most of which is fantasy or other speculative stuff). Because of that, I don't have time for the holiday fan activities.

I ticked 'not busier than usual', but 'usual' is pretty much 'nothing but reading fic'. I have not had the oomph to even consume the TV shows on my wishlist, and while I have the desire to write have not actually written a single word all year; this may not be a change from last year, or even the year before. I am choosing not to look in my drafts folder to see when my last change was!
