Hi everyone! I hope this is alright to post here, but I think this would qualify as "having a question for fandom!"

My name is Irissa; I'm a PhD candidate in sociology working on fandom-oriented research. I'm currently recruiting research participants for my dissertation study, which measures attitudes in fandom towards generative AI technologies (text and image generation software). I'm interested in understanding fans' perspectives on and experiences with generative AI. That means perceptions both positive and negative! However you feel about genAI, I'm interested in hearing from you.

If you're over 18 years old and can read/speak English, please consider participating, and sharing with your networks (both fandom and personal)! You'll be asked about your fandom background, attitudes towards generative AI, and demographic information (information about yourself). The survey should take about 15-20 minutes, and you can skip over any questions you want. You can also elect to participate in a follow up interview, if you want to. The full details are on the consent form, which you'll be able to read before taking the survey! You can also check out the flyer below, and there's some information about the study on other platforms as well (see: Twitter, Tumblr, Reddit, Instagram).

You can learn more about the study and participate by clicking here! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions, and definitely spread it around to folks who might want to weigh in!

(PS: i think i've used the correct tags here, but mods, please correct me if i'm wrong. also, i'm relatively new to dreamwidth (only been using it personally for a few months), so if there are other fandom-oriented communities on here that you think might be interested in this, please do let me know!)

It‘s the last day of the year (where I live), so have another poll! Feel free to discuss or add new questions in the comments. I know [community profile] snowflake_challenge will make me review my fannish year at some point, but why not start early, right?

Genuflectx over on Pillowfort is researching fannish drift, and they're particularly interested in getting more responses from older fans. I'm told the results will be compiled onto Fanlore and the poll answers will also be viewable eventually, once the polls are closed. Let me copy their whole post.

The Fannish Drift Survey seeks to gather data from fans of various age and time in fandom to help define fandom words. If the definition of certain words has changed over time, or is seen differently among different fans, then this survey will hopefully make that clear. There are two identical forms, each covering two generations.

The information you provide will be compiled and later made public, so do not complete the form if that makes you uncomfortable. No personal identifying information will be collected, such as name or email. Please share the forms with your friends and make sure you take the one that relates to your age group!

Hey everyone, I was asked to signal boost a poll and thought this community was the right place. [personal profile] goss made a simple poll in her journal to find out how many BIPOC there are on Dreamwidth and to connect to people with similar experiences.

But over the years, many BIPOC have left these platforms or Fandom altogther. And I really miss having those kinds of interactions, and hearing these particular voices.

I'm curious about how many of us are out here still, whether actively posting on DW or simply lurking. Maybe you are wondering too! So I am putting up this poll, in the hopes of reaching out to and connecting with as many BIPOC fans here on DW as possible.

*if Miss Piggy tells you to treat her like a princess, you treat her like a princess.
**Okay, bear with me here:
1. Since Marvel bought back the X-Men movie rights, Wolverine is a Disney property
2. Several Disney princesses only got their status by falling in love with a prince
3. Marvel Hercules is Prince of Thebes
4. Wolverine and Hercules once dated in the comics
Ergo, Wolverine is a Disney princess (also, I'm pretty sure he can wear the heck out of a ballgown.)
