Fic because of actors

Is there a general term for the sort of thing represented by "Teninch" fic, where people put together random characters played by Billie Piper and David Tennant other than Rose and the Doctor? I have been browsing Hitchhiker's Guide fic for a couple of days and have run across both Sherlock and Khan in fics which I therefore assume have Martin Freeman's Arthur Dent in mind, since they have both been played by Benedict Cumberbatch.

I don't recognize any of those characters so I can't say yes or no.

Ah, sorry. It was "two actors played characters on series Z, both actors eventually went to series Q, and their characters, despite not having met, or even possibly being antagonistic, are shipped or behave like they've already known each other for a lifetime." Is that more like what you meant?

What I had in mind was crossing over characters from otherwise unrelated fandoms because there also existed some fandom which a given pair/set had both been in. Like, A and B both played characters in series X, so let's now cross over A's character from series Y with B's character from series Z, even though there's not any other relation between series Y and Z.

Oh, so "Captain Picard and the Tenth Doctor get crossed over because Patrick Stewart and David Tennant were in Hamlet together, despite there never being an official Doctor Who/Star Trek crossover" (to that point, anyway, as there have been some comic ones and the like.)
