So the other day I was copying all of the Soul 2 Soul freeforms from the tagset into my trope spreadsheet. (See, I have a spreadsheet with tabs for each exchange, because I love seeing all the tropes and freeforms, and they give me ideas for writing. I have one spreadsheet that has all of the freeforms and tropes, and another that I've edited to take out anything I would never write for any fandom that I can think of.) And when I finished working with them, I went back to the first exchanges I had edited out all the tropes I didn't know… and I forgot I had some that I don't fully understand and had left for asking someone about.
Oh, it's not that one can't find articles on most of them on Fanlore. But an article on Fanlore that explains what doms and subs are doesn't necessarily tell someone what a "dom/sub AU" actually looks like, how it works. In some of the cases of the ones I left as questions, I probably won't ever write them myself. It doesn't mean, however, that I don't want to actually understand what they are so I'm not confused the next time I see it in a tag list.
So I thought of this comm. I'm hoping this isn't the wrong kind of post to put here, but I'd love someone to give me examples of these various things. If there is a Fanlore article that actually explains them and I've just missed it, feel free to link me. But in most cases I'm probably needing someone to actually explain along the lines of: "This is a world where everyone has X and this happens every time Y." (Plus more explanation/detail.) If you like explaining tropes and ideas to people, I welcome your input!
( cut for length )
Thanks in advance for any time you spend commenting and trying to help me understand these. :)
I tried to find a tag that fit this post and I wasn't coming up with any from reading the list of tags. Mod help, maybe?
