also there's a number of song references in my novel-length WIP; I am particularly proud of the one where Adrien knows Marinette recommended Florence + the Machine's "Strangeness and Charm" to him because she knows he likes physics and rock music, nothing whatsoever to do with how it's a love song, as she would tell him if she had any romantic or sexual attraction to him

(spoilers: she tries to tell him she's in love with him about once an episode, and in those few instances where circumstances do not conspire to screw this up for her, she has an anxiety and backtracks. why would he think she's in love with him? she's told him repeatedly she's not!)

also really proud of the passage with the line "that one extra-American-Christian song with the lying jinnī in the bottle of bourbon"—mostly not because of that line, but that's a part I can quote without spoiling my fic


and having had the idea that Adrien wielding the Butterfly or Peacock Miraculouses (both of which grant their wielder the ability to sense people's emotions from at least some distance) will experience the empathy bit as synesthesia with music, I now need to read some music theory to figure out what the hell this frickin-expert (at least compared to me) teenage pianist would connect with what emotions! and I don't get to stick to classical piano stuff, either, even though that's where most of his experience is, 'cause he's also keyboardist in a kawaii metal band whenever he can sneak out to practice with them!
