My one and only fanvid (but given the technical limitations I had to work with as far as program capabilities, I'm pretty proud of it): Stand By You

Same fandom (Alphas): The song "Dare You To Move" by Switchfoot fits the character Nina and her redemption arc in the second season perfectly. "Dare you to move / dare you to pick yourself up off the floor", "maybe redemption has stories to tell", and I actually wrote a fic called "maybe forgiveness is right where you fell" from a line of that song that was an AU version of that arc. Redemption arcs for flawed and deeply hurting people, mmm… I already loved her as a favorite character, so watching her go downhill and then recover was painfully beautiful, and the song worked SO well with that. I've got other associations of music with ships or whatnot, but that one is by far the strongest.

Don't think I've ever written a filk, at least, not that I can remember. (Maybe when I was a kid and was goofing around?) I did write a poem that was a song in the story but never wrote music to go with it. I'm not so good at composition as I am at imitation and transcription as far as music goes.

I did once write a ficmix, though! The Cover and the Title Page is among my earliest writing (I think I wrote all 16 ficlets in a week or two the summer before I got my AO3 account and posted it backdated once I started incorporating my earlier fics). I didn't dare actually link to the songs on AO3 (some are not to be found on Youtube), but would happily share them with anyone who wants, as I wrote all the ficlets while listening to the respective songs and they're meant to be read while listening to the appropriate song. It's not quite what you asked but it's tangential?

I'm a very musical person, but I strangely don't care much for musicals. I have my few exceptions for musical movies, ones I grew up with - The Sound of Music, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (but NOT the Johnny Depp remake!), On Moonlight Bay / By the Light of the Silvery Moon, and most definitely the best one, The Court Jester, come to mind - but otherwise no. I remember liking The King and I some but I can barely remember it being a musical so clearly those weren't the parts that I found notable! I think I just find the whole "let's just start singing and walking around oddly now" bit very strange in general. (Oh, and the 1999 Annie - with Alicia Morton as Annie - that one I do like too. I'm picky about which version, though - because the 1999 one had an Annie that I found cute, and who could actually sing, unlike the better-known 1982 film - and it tames some of the more ridiculously child-unfriendly bits the 1982 one had.) So I'm not in any music-related fandoms, no.
