I've never heard of her before, but apparently the reason she's been so sick is that her (soon-to-be-ex-)husband was tainting her food.  And is now suing her for ownership of her copyrights and getting people to spread rumors about her.

Wow. I've been a fan of her books for years, though I dropped off keeping up her series a while back mainly because of life interfering with reading (and now I have like, 20 books to catch up on). So upset to hear this. Really hoping she's able to fight him off and retain her rights as a creator.

Becoming too common? No, it's always been there, it's just that now women who get abused like that have resources to fight back with.

I was considering along the lines of “women being targeted by their SOs for being more successful than the man” which is relatively new because women are more recently accepted in the workforce.

But you’re right. This type of abuse as a whole has been around for ages, it’s just morphed.

Whoooooaaaaa.

I've read several of her books, though years ago, and I know she's a massive deal in the urban-fantasy-erotic-romance bit of romance. But it's been so long since I thought about any of her work. Wow.

I'd also heard about her nuts-sounding lawsuit against Cassandra Clare, who despite her fannish past definitely didn't plagiarise Kenyon (like, a YA trilogy about Shadowhunters and a massive series of erotic romances about adult Dark Hunter dudes and the women they meet are... not actually that similar) and so it makes sense to me that she says her nutty ex was behind that.
