Where do you go for fanwork recs?

Naming this community is cheating. :P

But another DW community or journal, a website, a tumblr, and AO3 or Pinboard bookmarker, or anywhere else you go to find good fanwork recommendations is great!

Here's one from me:
Polyamorous Recs by shrift and nestra has been going as long as I've been in fandom, and is still updating with good recs! It is *not* only poly fic - it's been going long enough that it predates polyamory being in common usage, so they use it to mean that they, the reccers, love a great many different fandoms and pairings instead of being monogamously devoted to only one. :D There will probably be something there you will like!

Every month I look forward to the latest treasure trove of recs at [personal profile] unfitforsociety (from [personal profile] musesfool) - I enjoy the reccer's little blurbs and meticulous tagging; there's a fantastic archive available to explore. Example: nobody's lonely till somebody's gone

Baby Yoda's ridin' dirty!!!!!! ADORABLE.

I love [personal profile] stultiloquentia's recs! Everything from one-off's to her thematic compilations like last year's Troves of Tropes! rec post.
1. Competence. The Phoney War by bob_fish (FMA, Roy/Ed). Gold standard, complete with shit-eating grins. But good lord, I bet I could write a rec list of 100 competence kink-slamming stories without even slowing down. Where would I stop?
2. Physical intelligence subcategory, i.e. random acts of knitting or outboard motor-steering. Sweet Cherry Pie by 61below (OMGCP, Bitty/Jack), in which Bitty is Good at Hockey, and Jack is overcome.

I want to say [profile] fanfic_fridays but people keep not using it!

(also I keep forgetting to post my recs on Friday and then my brain does not let me because it is not Friday)

(yes I know it is currently Friday)

Oh, thanks for that rec site! I've never heard of it, but I love the tag organization.

I like [community profile] fancake for reccs. Tags organized by fandom but also by theme! And I like looking at the public bookmarks of my favorite authors on AO3.

I look forward to The Rec Center landing in my email In Box every Friday. Recs are based on a theme or a particular show/film/video game/book(s)/etc., often with explainers, plus links to topical articles, good fanart, and funny fannish bits found on Twitter or Tumblr. Elizabeth Minkel (of the Fansplaining podcast) and Gavia Baker-Whitelaw (aka HelloTailor, co-host of the Overinvested podcast) bring the goods!

For visual art, [community profile] fanart_recs is an active multifannish comm where folks can sign up to post recs in any fandom for a month at a time.

Ooh, subscribing to that. I so rarely see people doing multiformat recs.

Also, though I already mentioned it in a previous post, [community profile] buffyversetop5 doesn't re-open until October but it has 13 years' worth of recs in it to browse through or search.

Although it's not very active now, [community profile] recs has a lot of content there as well (and I do post to it regularly).

I second what has been mentioned here and also like to go through the back catalogue of [community profile] epic_recs. It seems they are continuing on Tumblr: epic-recs.tumblr.com but since there are no fandom tags I find that less convenient.

ETA: I almost forgot what used to be my main source of recs for a loong time: [community profile] crack_van. It's still great to go through the old recs.

Other than X-Men (to which I came too late for recs, really, as I got into it right after the first three films came out and developed a strong un-desire to ever see the newer ones, so I basically just poked through all the sites back then and once in a blue moon try to find something that DOESN'T use anything past X3)

or LOTR (which I get into in waves and just basically browse various of the fanfic archives)

or Smallville (which I used to lurk in K-Site's mbs and look for recs and read fic there for Chlark but the show jumped the shark for me in S4 so I quit watching then; for me it ended at the end of S3

or Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman (where I basically read nearly all the fic on the fandom's main archive years ago and every so often come back and read new stuff, so I know who all the good authors are already)

or Narnia (where I pretty much just browse if I feel like reading some, I'm not super into it most of the time, got burnt out writing it a few years back so I don't have as much interest in reading it)…

OK, I know those are some big "other thans" but you can see, I don't really look for recs for those!

All the rest of my fandoms are pretty much super tiny. Rookie Blue and The Matrix are the biggest ones there, and I've either read or glanced at every one of the former, and I was working my way through the latter when the demise of Yahoo Groups became imminent and everything else got dropped to deal with it. With tiny fandoms, you read everything. Even if it's a pairing you're not super into (though after a while I realized I *really* couldn't get into Gail/Holly from Rookie Blue, I just was NOT invested whatsoever, so I quit trying to read them). Who needs recs then? I mean, if you *don't* want to go through everything, I guess… at which point my fanfic database might prove useful, lol. (If I ever get around to finishing it with the fandoms I have on my hdd. That might take years.)
