What's your favorite costume from canon?

I still love everything Leia Organa haa voluntarily worn (though I will admit it's now hard not to think "no bras in space" for that whole first movie.)

Steve Rogers' stealth suit from CA:The Winter Soldier. Just oooooooh.

The design of hobbits in the LOTR movies. A lot of people didn't like it but I loved how they dressed the entire people.

Yes to the stealth suit! It's not one of the big flashy pieces that I would probably list as a favorite, but it is indeed very ooooooooh.

Those are said to be worthy of HD; the vintage ones. Because the BBC Opera costumers did the embellishments.

I have to admit the suit General Organa wears I saw first on Leia, and only later on actual contemporary leaders, so she 'owns' that neckline.

James Buchanan Barnes wears the white and sidebraid buns with great love for the only rebel with good hit ratios out of a cockpit.

I still need Hill and Organa in their infiltration garb side by side.

I don't know that I can name a single favorite, but Miss Fisher and Mrs. Maisel are both worth watching for the costume design alone.

A whole world of Yes! to Miss Fisher! I love pretty much every outfight she wears throughout that series and would love to have had every one of them back when I could have worn them well. *sigh*

The uniforms of the Army of Light from Babylon 5. I love the episode where everyone is fitted with them and the symbology is explained. :)

Like the most favourite outfit of all fandoms I've ever jumped in? That's hard, very hard.
Can I put Mire!Goji as my favourite Godzilla suit, or would it be cheating? (It's just the cutest!)
Apart from that, I can merely think of most of Aloy's Carja blazons. And another Carja outfit I found in a random chest somewhere and which's name I can't find right now.
Here be me showing it off for about half a minute: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-crFzMntZk

Oh man. I love so many costumes, I'd have to break it down into tons of sub-categories (costume I most want to wear? costume I would hire someone to make if I won the lottery? costume I thought was a great fit for the character? costume I thought was iconic if not necessarily noteworthy?). They're usually from fantasy/sci-fi or period pieces, which...does not narrow it down.

I have gotten to see museum exhibits of Star Wars and Black Panther costumes, so they probably get honorable mention because I've seen them in person.

The fuzzy henley-undershirt-tunic Ben Solo has on at the end of Rise of Skywalker. Not only is it just a good look on Adam Driver, but to me at least it's a fantastic throwback to Luke's costume in ROTJ--- where Luke's walking around all badass in black, and then at the end we see the white lining of his black tunic, the symbolism being that he'd been Light all along even if he was dressing (apparently) in black. Similarly, Ben's fuzzy soft tunic--- which has a hole in it from where Rey stabbed him, so we know it's been on his body the whole time--- is equally symbolic that he was a good person under the shell of Kylo Ren all along; this fuzzy cuddly guy (albeit with an edge--- his undertunic isn't white) has been inside him. (I also love that even though from what I saw of the behind-the-scenes footage Adam Driver was actually wearing a tank top under his Kylo Ren tunic, they didn't put Ben in a piece of clothing often called a "wife-beater" because BEN SOLO WOULDN'T. EVER. That hill I will die on. *nods firmly*)

I usually enjoy the way that lacquer armor looks and moves, in pieces that actually have it, but I have a feeling it would be at least as heavy as steel to wear as a costume.

I always liked the costumes in SyFy's Dune miniseries, because they managed to be outrageous and futuristic and such without (usually) getting ridiculous.

Also, I really appreciated the thought process that went into designing the different races and cultures in LotR, and the various tribes in Black Panther.

On the other hand, I loathe most of the costumes in the 2019 because they manage to both a) be really inaccurate and b) tell you nothing about the characters who wear them (except Jo's costumes). I would accept inaccuracy if it helped modern audiences "get" the character, and I would accept something that didn't help audiences "get" the character if it was period accurate, but Little Women did neither. And then it got an Oscar for best costume. There were several Oscar-worthy things in that movie, but the fricking costumes were NOT part of them!

"Canon" is a weird thing to define in musical theater but Travis Halsey built the most gorgeous costumes for The Papermill Playhouse's run of Beauty and the Beast last year. Particularly the Lumiere one moves me to tears. The pants are sewn out of individual strips of ribbon! There are pleats in the back of the jacket that splay so beautifully when he spins around. Ugh, it's unbelievable. I can't believe this guy's work isn't on broadway.

(instagram.com/halseyonstage/ for the costumer's work if you're curious, and notjusthespongenextdoor.tumblr.com/post/186364373134 for a bit of said costume in action)
