Fic Search Communities

Hi all. There's a story I want to find. Do I remember either title or author? I do not. Used to be there were communities where one could go and describe a story and people would get back to you with suggestions. With the great LJ migration, I'm having a hard time finding those communities. So...

The story I'm currently looking for is Stargate SG-1. is there an active story finder community for it?

Please put any active story finder communities, any fandom, in the comments. I figure I can't be the only one who's lost bookmarks from the pre-AO3 days.

Sometimes fail_fandomanon (an anonymous community) has Find The Thing threads where people ask after fics/books/movies/etc. Might want to watch for one of those, or start one if you feel comfortable.

Seconded. The impression I get is that most fandom specific comms here also accept fic finder requests. I‘ve no idea if there is an active SG-1 comm on here though.

it's fairly easy to tell, as search results are usually sorted by how recently there's been activity. I'd definitely search by interest, under sg-1, sga, stargate, and by character(s) name at the least.

Reddit is like many large cities: there are wonderful things and friendly places, but also some unsavory places full of trash and raw sewage.

The dozen or so single-fandom spaces I've participated in have been civil and well-moderated: I hope you will have the same experience.

the tumblr-era strategy for finding a fic one didn't bookmark seems to be, send an ask to someone who seems to have a lot of followers, and if they don't recognize it themselves, their followers might

kink_finders is quiet but not totally dead. It's more for "stories like this" than "this specific story", though.
