If anyone wants a ready-made fannish quiz for a social gathering, here's one I made for our local fan con this year. It's tailored to our attendees wrt fandoms referenced, but most of the sources are fairly widely known, especially for anyone who's been in fandom/slash fandom for any length of time.

There are seven rounds:

Round 1: AO3 Stats
Round 2: Hey, it’s that actor!
Round 3: Have you read this?
Round 4: Theme tunes
Round 5: Tag, you’re it!
Round 6: Episode titles
Round 7: Masquerade

  1. AO3 stats are questions like "Are there more works in X fandom or Y fandom?", tags, languages, etc.

  2. Hey, it's that actor! is a round of actors who've been in various fannish properties and asks, "Of these three shows/movies, which has this actor NOT been in?"

  3. Have you read this? involves a handout of AO3 fic summaries with the fandoms, names and other identifying info blacked out. Players have to guess the fandom based on hints in the summary, date of publication, indicators of size of fandom, etc.

  4. Theme tunes were all movie themes this year. Guess the movie.

  5. Tag, you're it! is questions about AO3 tags -- what canonical tag are these three synned to, what fandom is this tag related to, etc. (Much thanks to [personal profile] isis for help putting this round together!)

  6. Episode titles involves a handout of twenty shows + episode numbers and twenty episode titles, and asks players to match the shows to the titles. (Half a point per correct answer.)

  7. Masquerade was a new round I trialled this year. I took pics of various pairings and blanked out everything but their eyes. Players had to guess the fandom.

Teams usually pick a bonus round and get double points for that. Jsyk, there aren't equal numbers of questions for each round. And some of the stats referenced are changing on a daily basis, so you'd have to specify the numbers are as at 1 Oct 2020. It takes roughly two hours.

The quiz pack consists of a PPT (including question slides and answer slides), two handout PDFs for rounds 3 and 6, an answer booklet for the presenter (only needed if you'd going to mark the rounds yourself; the answers are also in the PPT), and a quiz score sheet. I am not a professional quizmaker and do not guarantee the quality of this quiz, but people seemed to have a good time?

If you don't want to run it as a quiz but want to check it out and see how you do on your own, feel free. And if you do play, I'd love to hear how it went, how hard people found it, and any feedback on the different rounds.
