Paid account!

This community now has a paid account, thanks to jjhunter! The most relevant part is that now anybody can post polls here, even if you don't have a paid account on your own journal. So please post us lots of fannish polls!

(jjhunter also has an open offer of one month of paid time for anybody who would like some - so head over there if you're interested!)


Also I have a post on my journal about if your favorite characters drove cars, what cars would they drive? that you should answer! I'd particularly love to hear from people who know car culture outside the US/UK. Or who want to tell me I'm wrong about Locked Tomb fandom.

This journal still appears to have a paid account, but I'm not able to post polls here. :( Do you know why that is?

Good question! I've never tried so I had no idea, but luckily my personal paid account just expired today because I'm bad at remembering things, so I could test.

I think you need to go in through "post entry" on the community's profile page or from one of the links while you're on the community's journal page. If you use your usual post entry page the option isn't there even if you select "post to" the community. If you do go in through the right link, you should see a link to either "create poll" or "poll creator" up above the entry page (depending on which posting form style you use.)

If you click that, you get an error page that says your account type can't do polls, but there is also a "switch" button on the error page, and if you click the switch button, it reloads and the poll creator form comes up, and it let me post a test poll from there. I don't know why that works, but it seems to.

If that doesn't work, let me know and I can try some more testing.

Thanks for going to the trouble of testing it out! I tried clicking the switch button, but the problem persists. (I also checked to see if any of my extensions might be interfering but I don't think they are.) Right now the only idea I have is it might only work for the admins of the comm, not members.

Yeah, I just tested with my backup account and it did the same thing as for you, so it must be because I'm administrator. That doesn't seem right (And honestly what it does when you are an admin doesn't really make sense either) so I put in a support request - hopefully they can come up with some answers.

In the meantime, the good news is that I'm pretty sure you *can* post a poll.... you just can't access the poll creator. But if you generate the poll code some other way, you can copy-paste it into the html posting form from the community, and it seems to still post (at least it did when I tested it on my non-admin account.) So if you want to give me the poll you want to post, I can put it through the poll generator and send you back the code. (you can email it to this username [Bad username or site: yahoo @ com] if you don't want to stick it in a comment.)

Hi, sorry for the late reply, but thank you for looking into it to this extent! If/when I do decide on the content + generate the poll code, I'll pass it along.
