What crossover or crossover pairing do you really really want to exist that does not have a single work on AO3?

For awhile now I have really wanted Machineries of Empire/Gideon the Ninth fic with Harrowheart Nonagesimus/Cheris Ajewen, with sword kink, and Jedao and Gideon providing unwanted subvocal commentary the whole time. At least as far as the first Ninth book, there's no *particular* reason their system couldn't be a Machineries backwater with a particularly morbid calendar - and if it was, Cheris would certainly wash up there for necromancy research at some point - so really it's basically canon that this happened.

I also still really want Good Omens crossed with The Bible According to Mark Twain, because his cosmology fits GO's well enough that I'm pretty sure Pratchett, at least, read it before writing GO. And Twain's Adam and Eve are darlings. You'd have to finesse the snake bit some, but Eve would totally have edited her diary if Crowley asked her nicely, so that can be worked out.

I'm sure I've said this before but Animorphs/Pitch in a shared city we may or may not name (but it's definitely San Diego). With a little tweak of the timeline Animorphs Rachel can probably be Mike's sports journalist ex Rachel. Marco hams it up at media events when Ginny is getting overwhelmed with the public pressure. Bill has a dark secret involving the Sharing.

If I search for everything in English that's tagged both "Miraculous Ladybug" and "Harry Potter - J. K. Rowling", then filter out everything that's tagged with any other fandom (Cursed Child can stay, I suppose—or rather it could: the only work tagged both ML and Cursed Child almost has more tagged pairings than the work has words!), most of which are collections of unrelated one-shots comprising a single AO3 work anyway, and also everything that's tagged "Alternate Universe - Hogwarts" or "Alternate Universe - Harry Potter Setting" and thus probably shouldn't have the HP fandom tag anyway, that leaves me 23 works.

I am not looking to see what other tags are on the one AO3 Savior is hiding bc tagged Vore. Of the remainder, if I don't count the one where a freeform tag tells me Harry Potter is Adrien Agreste, only eight tag characters from both canons. The impression I get from seven of those summaries is that the protagonists of both series are, in these fics, the same age; the author's note on the eighth places Harry at twenty years old, and the ML characters seem to be approximately their canonical age, which is to say, early-mid teens.

Now, both canons' internal chronological evidence contradict themselves six ways to Sunday. But if Marinette is a Snake and the temple that was destroyed 172 years ago was destroyed in 1844, then she was born in 2001. And if the 500th anniversary of Sir Nicholas's 1492 death is Halloween of Harry's second year, then Harry was born in 1980.

I haven't read Cursed Child and I am spoiled enough to be pretty sure I don't want to, but Marinette and Adrien are Harry's kids' age, and Harry and them probably have opinions on child soldiers. (Also, Molly Weasley has opinions on children with neglectful birth families.)

Where, AO3, is my proper ML/HP crossover?

…I think I just figured out why I haven't gotten anywhere on writing either that Harry Potter/Miraculous Ladybug or my Miraculous Ladybug/Beauty and the Beast (1991). In both of these, the leads of the first canon listed have expertise that, if directed at the central magical problem of the second canon, ought to solve the problem much more quickly†. This removes agency and idk narrative centrality from the leads of the second canon. But I like those leads and I want them to shine at least as fiercely as they canonically do!

† Or at any rate to identify the solution, since Belle needed to fall in love with Beast and say as much in order to transform him back, and both "telling her what they need her to do and why would make it much more difficult if not impossible for her to do it" and "the curse ensures no one who isn't under it can be told how to undo it" are plausible.

This is cheating because there actually is a Vorkosigan/Discworld crossover in existence and it is great and also because of it, I always think Sybil's last name is Vorramkin BUT I also would love a Vorkosigan/Discworld crossover where Vetinari asks Miles Vorkosigan if he believes in angels.

Okay 1) That is an amazing crossover and 2) oh no, now I need it too!

(On the subject of implausible Discworld crossovers, I did once posit a Dragaera crossover where Vimes just straight-up arrests the Cycle...)

Once I started contemplating the crossover, it was the only conclusion I could come to :)

I think Miles Vorkosigan, who is some kind of aristocrat from somewhere else (or, at least, he claims to be), and who leaves chaos behind him. Naismith has too much of an entourage.

Uncle Iroh (ATLA)/Grandma Fa (Disney's Mulan). I think they'd have a fun little fling before going their separate ways. The teenagers they are responsible for might find it a little awkward, though.

Hee--yes, definitely!

Oooh, or Mushu discovering that that human is called the Dragon of the West. "E--excuse me? Excuse me?" I can just hear his indignation!

I appreciate that special brand of dawning horror as kids slowly realize their preferred old people know how to flirt.

Wei Wuxian and Agatha Heterodyne are stranded on an unhospitable planet that neither is familiar with, and they invent Weird Shit together while trying to get to their respective homes. The blast radius is... multiversal.

MDZS and Girl Genius are wildly different canons and most other combinations of characters would get bogged down in cultural miscommunications, I think; but WWX and Agatha, in the absense of anyone prompting them to Proper Social Interaction, would immediately go into a shared fugue of Mad Science Cultivation Invention.

ETA: I don't ship them as a pairing, though! Both are already thoroughly entangled in other pairings/trios I don't want to break, and also I think WWX is likely to try to adopt Agatha rather than flirt with her. I think they'd have great partners-in-crime chemistry. (Crimes against the fabric of reality.)

Highly unlikely to happen because I strongly suspect I'm about the only person in the whole Persona 5 fandom with the other overlapping fandom required (and I'm currently too damn busy to write it myself) but Persona 5 crossed over with Blake's 7.

(Just because I figure the characters would fit in nicely).

Also, one that appeared in my head during the Georgette Heyer re-read recently: "The Reluctant Widow" storyline, possibly re-jiggered a bit to fit, starring the cast of Persona 5. Because, yeah, they fit the various roles (Goro Akechi could do Francis Cheviot to a T, and if you put him opposite the protagonist as Edward Carlyon, and Makoto Niijima as Eleanor Rochdale, it actually winds up pretty funny... or at least, it does in my head, anyway).

Oh, you shouldn't ask me about crossovers - I love them too much and I have too many crossover ships to count. There was that one thing with my brothers, where shipped characters with the same name (looking for the craziest ship) and many of them actually seemed pretty good.

But out of all possible things, I ship Mastema from Soul Cartel with Mastema from Devil Survivor 2. It is going to be completely fake as they manipulate each other, hiding their real feelings and trying to advance the war between Heaven and Hell for their side. I just love angst and impossible love too much.

Also, there's Akihiko from Persona 3 with Keita from Devil Survivor 2. They are way too same and far too different (I think Atlus has a character like them in every game). Too bad Keita doesn't have even many non-crossover ships.
