Does anyone have something that they would have loved to see in canon that they wouldn't necessarily entrust to a fanfic writer? (No offense intended to those who write missing scenes fanfic and the like.)

For me, as an Animorphs fan, I would have loved Chronicles books focused on the Taxxons, Pemalites and Chee. Along with an expanded edition of Visser with some time spent on Visser Three. (Partly to see what the inner workings of Yeerk society is like, partly so the cover doesn't lie.)

Also, for the Mega Man franchise, something to bridge the gaps in between individual game series. I always find myself wondering what happened to the rest of the cast in between the Mega Man X and Mega Man Zero series, and would like to see a game set during the Elf Wars.

(Sorry for the edit, i forgot some things)

I wish LastMan could have a prequel's prequel with the Roitelets/Kinglets/Wrens' war. I'd love to see an animated movie, but I could do with a defictionalized Book of the Valley too as an epic fantasy novel with tacky medieval-like illustrations.

I would like a Leverage prequel about Nate and Sophie nemesising their way around Europe. Just a TV movie would be fine!

Also NBC it's definitely time for a full gay streaming series about Garak and Bashir on post-war Cardassia. They earned it.

More Jane Austen! All her unfinished works completed, for a start, but also sequels or more books or whatever. Many of us have tried to fill her shoes but it's never the same.

I want and have always wanted a Star Trek Academy show. (Ideally that didn't descend into melodrama.)

I would have liked more follow-up on the various companions in Dr Who. I mean, we know what happened to Sarah Jane Smith, but aside from that... well, they all just vanished into obscurity. I'd like to know what happened to a few more of them - do they ever get together to talk with each other about the things they saw, the things they experienced? What kinds of things happened with the families of the ones who left Earth entirely, or the ones who settled in a different time period (did they ever get any kind of closure?). I know New Who looked at a few of those questions, but I would have liked to see a bit more of it.

I wish J.R.R. Tolkien had been able to finish the full, expanded version of the Fall of Gondolin whose starting pages are published in Unfinished Tales. His late son, Christopher Tolkien, did a wonderful job of pulling together the various text versions of Children of Hurin, but, alas, there was only the original early epic poem, and the fairly terse summary in The Silmarillion for the full story of the Fall of Gondolin.

Speaking of literal canon, I wish that someday archaeologists or librarians find copies of all those missing chronicles mentioned in the Old Testament: you know, the ones where the chronicler of 1 & 2 Kings or 1 & 2 Chronicles says "and the rest of his deeds are recorded in the Chronicles of Blah-blah-blah"... and said chronicle has not survived to the present day.

Whatever Tolkien's publishers may have thought at the time, I'm sure now there are plenty of people who would be glad to read both epic-poem and prose versions of the material!

I would have liked to see more Carmen Sandiego backstory in the edutainment versions of the show and the 90s animation, but time and all that, I understand.

I wish we could have gotten the 'real' final season of Babylon 5 rather than having most of the show's plot resolved already in S4 due to the treat of cancellation. And also more than half a season of Crusade. And a Legend of the Rangers series. And the telepath war movie. And the Memory of War movie. And more than one Lost Tales movie...

(Babylon 5 fans: getting our hope crushed over and over again since 1997)

Also, I would have loved loved loved to have had a second season of Twelve with Bill, Nardole and Missy because they were an absolute delight together (don't get me wrong, I loved Clara & Twelve too, but Bill deserved a second season)

I would say "more Marauders-era material" (Harry Potter), but actually these days I'm not that sure I trust JKR with it either :-/

Yeah, this was tough for me because really there's so many canons where I trust the creators with this way less than the fans...

I also think that JKR's Marauders are very different from how fandom always envisioned them. I was a huuuge Marauder fangirl back in the day, way before OoTP, and I just get the sense that fandom added a lot more nuance than what JK Rowling envisions. For instance, her Peter Pettigrew seems to have just been a hapless follower, whereas sometimes Marauder fandom did do that, but often made it a bit more complicated. I think on the whole they were something of a tragic hero set. Which isn't a bad thing at all (other than very sad), just so different from the direction fandom has taken them.

I definitely don't trust JK Rowling with Harry Potter anymore either, though. Which is so sad, because I was always on the defense about her decisions way back when, even though it was sometimes fandom unpopular to be. I even liked most of canon ships. But she's made creative decisions that I haven't been totally on board with in the time since.
